The North Taunton Partnership was set up as a charity by local people in 1998 to offer support, through the Priorswood Community Centre, to local families within North Taunton which is an area of multiple deprivation with one ward being within the 10% most deprived in England. The Community Centre, known locally as the hub of the community, offers daily advice and support surgeries from various organisations, as well as a café style facility where local people can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee at low cost. As part of our afternoon programme we offer various social, fitness and educational groups and classes providing some of the most lonely and isolated people within our community with the means to meet other like-minded people, improve their skill base and in turn improve their health & wellbeing.

As part of our youth project, Pride in Priorswood (PiP), we provide an activity within each school holiday including 5 activity days in the summer holidays, these days have now become embedded in the calendar of activities taking place in the area offering local young people and their families the opportunity to take part in fun activities on the local park in a relaxed, low cost way. We bring in various agencies to provide support as well as fun activities including bouncy castles, face painters, a climbing wall and many others. These events have grown over the past 10 years with 2018 seeing a footfall of 2370 which we feel proves the need.

2018 saw the addition of the Resilience Voyage Drugs Bus to the events which saw over 400 young people and adults gain an insight into drug misuse and the effects it has on so many young lives, the impact we hope will have a lasting effect and improve their understanding and ability to say No. North Taunton has a high level of drug related crime incidents which working in partnership we hope to see a decline.

The grant received from the Ashfords Foundation will enable The North Taunton Partnership to book the Resilience Voyage Drugs Bus again this year.
